Sherbrooke Basketball is excited to welcome Ryan Rogers, Matt Dunstan & Peter Friend as coaches of our Div 2 Men, Div 2 Women & YL2W teams for 2018.
“The interview process was quite extensive given the number of quality applicants we received and interviewed” President, Mick Spruhan said. “We are very fortunate to have such quality people apply to be involved in our program and are confident the successful applicants are going to further develop the Sherbrooke Suns profile”.
In the Men’s program we welcome back Ryan Rogers. Ryan was previously with Sherbrooke in 2007 as our Junior Rep Director of Coaching. Since then, Ryan has coached senior basketball at a number of levels, both here and interstate. Ryan brings an undeniable passion for basketball. He will be working closely with Brent Andrews (our returning VYCM coach) to further develop our Senior program. Ryan has a vision for the whole Men’s program which will see greater interaction with our Junior Rep program.
On the Women’s side, Gary Jones has recently advised the club he will not be continuing in his role as Senior coach. He will remain as a coach in our Junior Representative program. Thank you Gary for all your efforts over the past years.
Matt Dunstan, who has coached in England, New Zealand and Hong Kong, been involved in wheelchair basketball and coached for over 20 years has been appointed coach of our Div 2 Women’s team (pending our Big V application). Matt has also had previous coaching experience with Sherbrooke and only left when he relocated to Sydney. Matt’s basketball knowledge and acumen is outstanding. His passion for the game and development of individuals/teams is just one of his strengths.
Peter Friend returns as the YL2W coach in 2018. Peter has filled the role of our Junior Rep coaching director for the last 2 years. Peter is also passionate about developing individuals and teams. He brings with him a wealth of basketball knowledge. Peter has already been working with individual players on improving their skills and is super excited about the coming year.
